Yellow Rose Derby Girls is a skater owned and operated organization dedicated to providing quality entertainment through competitive athleticism. We envision women’s flat track roller derby as an opportunity to further generate a positive image of strong, capable women in our community. YRDG encourages athleticism and personal growth in a supportive and positive environment.
We follow the rules and regulations set forth by the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA), a national governing body for female-only, skater-owned, flat-track roller derby leagues. The Yellow Rose Derby Girls league was founded in January of 2013 by Rosie the Ribhitter and Texas Thai Foon, who have skated for a number of different derby teams in the South, on the East Coast, and internationally.

:: Is This Like Old-School Derby? ::
Modern roller derby differs in many ways from the roller derby that used to air on television.
:: So, What Kind of League Are You, Then? ::
Good question! Well, we’re all unpaid, amateur skaters who not only practice and bout, but do all the work to keep the league running. We also buy our own gear and uniforms. All of our volunteers (refs, announcers, and production staff) are also unpaid and they help us out for the love of the sport and our league. As far as our demographics, we’re all 18+ but there’s no upper age limit. Many of our members have children. Professionally, we range from social workers to medical professionals to stay-at-home moms to marketing managers. In other words, we’re a cross-section of the modern, successful, strong female population. We all have one thing in common. We are strong, fierce competitors who are passionate about the sport of roller derby.
